Sample Itinerary - Melbourne's iconic villages
Start your day with a decadent breakfast at the Grand Hyatt before heading off to explore the architecture, history, shops and sights of some of Melbourne’s most famous suburbs.
Your first stop will be St Kilda, home of the St Kilda Esplanade, dining haven Acland St and the St Kilda Pier. Take a walk along the pier and get some fantastic photos of the city skyline or, for the thrill seekers, try some rides at Luna Park. Learn about the Esplanade Hotel, the “Espy”, from it’s days as one of Melbourne’s grandest hotels to being the longest running live music venue in Australia.
Next head to South Yarra to explore the famous shopping strip of Chapel St. Many of Australia’s best designers, as well as quirky and unusual brands, art galleries and hippest restaurants are represented in this precinct. After some retail therapy, enjoy lunch and a glass of champagne at one of the street’s best eateries. Drive through the streets of neighbouring Toorak, home of Melbourne’s elite, and marvel at the majestic homes.
No trip to Melbourne would be complete without a visit to Lygon St in Carlton. Known as “Little Italy”, it is the origin of Melbourne’s café culture and home to several blocks of Italian restaurants. Take some time to enjoy a gelato.
End your day with cocktails at one of Melbourne’s famous roof-top bars or hidden bars.
